What I have painted is a mining hill station where iron ore was eing mined for over 50 years. I worked in the govrnment owned Steel Mill situated about 50kms from the hills. We used to visit the place everyyear suring the rainy season when mining used to come to a halt. The salubrious climte coupled with Nature;s beauty was a treat to us fed up working in the dust and heat of a steel mill. I left the compmay in the 80s and I understand that the mining has been stopped now due to environmental issues and the place has been developed as a tourist resort.
I have based my painting on the photo which I have shown at the right had bottom for he sake of authenticity. I have taken a little of artistic liberties and try tp show the place as I saw in those good old days on a bright warm day.
I have painted this on Strathmore 250 gsm acid proof paper 14"x17".
Enjoy!
