Ben was a great German shepherd who belonged to my husband's family but he was also a guard dog and looked after their garage. He once stopped burglars. When the garage was opened up one morning he was standing to attention, growling and against the wall were two men rigid, unable to move. They had been like that for hours too terrified of Ben to move. This painting is taken from a photograph of Ben at the seaside with the family. It was an old photo and I did it as a memory for the family about 4 years ago. I don't think my copy uploaded here does it justice. I am in lockdown at the moment on an island and the painting is in Germany, so looking up old paintings I have held on my mobile and thought this might be suitable for this contest.
