I've aways wanted to get a shot of this snake in the water. I was lucky enough a few days ago to get my wish.As I entered the wildlife sanctuary and got to the boardwalk a woman stopped me and pointed out a Black Northern Water Snake in the Water. She was impressed it was still there, because she was in the wildlife sactuary for an hour and had seen the snake when she came in. The large area of water has a dike right in the middle of the pond. A low area with thin square cement blocks sf found beneath the boardwalk where I was standing. I guess it's for water flow. There was only about about one to two inches of water in it. The snake was right in the middle. It was looking at the shore in my direction. I know big fish like carp swim over this 10 ft. area earlier in the season. Smaller fish try to cross when ever there's water in it. I took some pictures of the snake then went on my way. An hour later when I was returning the snake was still there. I think she hunting and waiting for any small fish to swim by. A lot f the time these snakes will slither off when you approach but she didn't move a muscle. Hope you enjoy! Helvi
