Photograph of the Month Contest Entry
One never knows when a gesture from another can inspire you to create something. Mk Flood inspired me to create this image. He recently posted a birthday card for his daughter and it made me think of my loved ones. My mom loved the outdoors as much as I did. Enjoying nature becamea big part of my life because of her. Even though my mother no longer is with me on the earthly plain she lives within my heart every day. Whenever I plan to go out I'm out and take pictures of nature's beauty I invite her to come with me. I want her to enojy the sights as much as I do. This mixed nedia was a way I could put her into the shot. It's what I see when her soul is with me. TThe title of the image comes from a song sung by Josh Groban. It's a song about losing your significant other in death and yet how close they still remain. So much so ,it's hard to belive they're gone. The title of the song is... "To where you Are". I heard this song as my mother was fading away from a stroke she had. Because of the emotions it stirred up I found it to be so beautiful and painful to listen to. Though the song might be more revelant to your significant other , I knew my mom would soon be gone! I thought the emotions felt witin the song expressed the loss of anyone we love. There is a line within the song that reads..... "A breath away's not far from where you are". Though it has been 15 years since my mom's death, she is always with me.... only a breath away! A specal "Thank You" to you Mark (MKFlood) for openning a doorway that inspired me to create this for my mom!
Post Type: Mixed Media Photography
Mixed Media: Major | Original image taken by my dad at Easter when I was a kid. I cut out the image of my mom and the tree she was posing by and turned it into a silhouette . I added a sunset within her and one in the background. Her hair is from the frills of a mushroon Filled in the leafy area of the tree with green and added effects.
