Nature Art Contest Contest Entry
The Aurora, also called polar light, northern light or southern light, is a natural light display in the sky. They are usually seen in the high latitudes (Arctic and Antarctic) regions. Auroras are produced when the Earth's magnetosphere is disturbed by the solar wind (wiki).
One of the most dramatic natural scenes I have ever seen was the Aurora in Northern MN. It outperformed any man made display by miles. It is totally memorizing as they move around in the sky light someone shaking a blanket. They change colors form bright green to vivid lavender. Often you can also hear them too as they are caused by an electrical charge from solar winds.
If you have never seen them, you might want to put that on your bucket list!
