About mid-September,we started to get the smoke from the western wildfires drifting through, resulting in hazy skies and colorful sunsets. I was trying to figure out how best to take advantage of this temporary photo opportunity when I remembered Trusty Rusty Rex,a metal dinosaur skeleton sculpture that I had purchased at a flea market. Although technically it?s supposed to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex,it seems to be more of a hybrid between Rex and a Velociraptor. Anyway,I needed a clear open area where I could place Rex that was high enough that I would have to shoot upwards in order to include the sun. So l took Rex across the road, but soon realized I would have to tote him ALL the way down to a neighboring pond where there were a couple of big rocks that I could place him on. However, once I got down to the pond,I discovered the neighbor had decide to relocate the rocks, one next to the woods, which wasn?t going to work, the other down at the other end of the pond. So I carried him down to the other rock and placed him on top, then tried to get in a good position to photograph him with the now setting sun. I had to sit on my legs and get down in order to shoot up towards Rex to get the sun just below his claws. Adjusted sharpness, color, edited out some tall grasses and the metal base the feet were on.
