I went to Maine on the Labor Day weekend to my brothers cabin by the sea. I found some loose barnacles...something I've never seen before. I naturally collected them. I knew I could do some mixed media work with them. I've never tried to work with barnacles before as far as creating with. I made quite a few kaleidoscope images and cut out areas I liked to create this. I'm hoping to create more images with them. I call this an experimental nature image. I hope you enjoy. Thanks for stopping by! :o) Helvi
Post Type: Mixed Media Photography
Mixed Media: Major | Used barnacle to create flower and butterfly wings. I made a lot of kaleidoscope images and cut out parts I liked to create the flower. Arranged all the parts, colored and highlighted them and added shadows. Even when I thought I was done I was still changing things. The whole flower except the stem and leaves was made from different kaleidoscope images of the one barnacle in the center. The butterfly wings were created from the barnacle too. I thought the scalloped edges would make nice edges for the wings, Added slight embossing
