An extinct species brought back to canvas

At one time in North America it was estimated that there were 3 billion passenger pigeons. They would fill the skies by 100's of thousands when they migrated. Due to over hunting and habitat loss, they eventually went extinct in 1914. What a shame to decimate one of nature's treasures.
I did this piece to honor their former glory.
