Males and females about to spawn in a river

Salmon spawning season

When Coho salmon move from the ocean to the rivers to spawn, they change shape and color dramtically. The males develop a hooked jaw and a deep red color. The females do not develop the hook jaw and turn a more muted shade of red. Once they spawn they die off and rely on their DNA to carry on the legacy of their ancestory. A really cool nature process.
