Fabulous focus, the feathers are really amazing; the good light enhances the vibrant red colors, absolutely great capture.

    Thank you so much!

Wonderful shot, bright colour engaging pose. Tight focus and shallow DOF.

I note you didn't post process crop so framing done in camera. My only criticism is that all of the crest should have been in frame.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! I know I should have all the crest, I was trying to focus on the eye and just missed part of it.

A good sharp close up portrait. The colours are good too with nice depth of field separating the bird from the background. Great job!

She has amazing detail. Were you using your hunting blind?
Color, focus and lighting are all very good. Technically very good. Good initial impact. Very good focal point. The soft blur in the background make the bird a nice center of attention. Very nice presentation. Thanks for sharing

Thank you so much! I've got my bling in the back yard. My place is surrounded with woods. The birds love to eat sunflower seeds, all I have to do is sit and wait. These birds are very nervous and are hard to get them to stay very long. They here the shutter and off they go.

Your welcome and you really got this one well so much detail

You are so consistantly good at this type of photo Willie, I'm running out of nice things to say without repeating myself!
Great focus. Lovely detail. Brilliant colours. Nice background. Perfect lighting.
Well done.

Thank you so much. It is OK with me if you say the same thing over and over again. I like your compliments, I suck them up like a sponge!

Wow, Willie! It doesn't get any closer or more clearer than this!

Excellent job, nice expression, and like the crumbs on her beak. I love the eye with such clarity and detail. The only suggestion would be to include all the top feathers on that crown ~ but it's wonderful regardless.
As usual, fantastic artistry, Willie!

I am sorry I have missed quite a few reviews, I will try to catch up as time allows ~ I hope to be back to "normal" now ~ knock on wood! Thanks, Willie! Bev

Thank you so much! I did not mean to cut off the top. The lens was fully extended and I always focus on the eye. I did not see I missed a little on top until I viewd it on the computer. This is the full frame, there was nothing to crop. I was still pleased with the results.

I'm sorry, Willie ~ I thought I saw cropped in the notes. I apologize! I must be seeing things ~ I appreciate your info back ~ I hope I didn't offend you in any way ~ thanks, Willie! Bev

Cool portrait of this wonderful bird, you have focused this perfectly, depth of field is great, blurred background made the bird stand out so beautifully. Was it a ED 70-300mm 1:4.0-5.6 you were using or some other, I couldn't find it and I'm searching for some new lenses for my E-510? Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much. Yes it is the 70-300. I bought it from roberts destributors. On the lens it says 140-600 equivelent. I really like this lens. I use it for all the nature shots.

Thanks so much, now I'm even more glad I've picked this lens:) Best regards.xennia

This is an exceptional closeup of this beautiful cardinal. The details are superb. You can actually see the individual feathers. Very bright and sharp. Excellent photo. What is the focal length...600mm? Well done and thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for such a nice review and all the stars. I don't know the focal length but when you are fully extended as I was with this shot there is nothing to work with, if she moves the least bit it goes out of focus.
