Superb image Willie. Focus and composition are perfect. Glad you chose the thistle as a subject - they get so much bad press, but I think they're very beautiful. Not fun to pick though! Ouch! We pick a bunch every year for our New Year's Eve table. Thanks for sharing.

I remember as a kid that farmers would pay a nickle a thistle for kids to go out in the pastures and cut them down. Beautiful capture of the flower. GReat colors, focus and composition. DOF is perfect as well

Very nice image of the thistle. I like the colors and the Depth of field is good. I can even see the cob web stretching across the top right hand corner. Good work.

I don't know where you are from, but if I'm not mistaken this is the Scottish flower. My dad was a Scotsman and I visited Scotland and learned that. Pretty purple, good composition and detail.

I don't know where you are from, but if I'm not mistaken this is the Scottish flower. My dad was a Scotsman and I visited Scotland and learned that. Pretty purple, good composition and detail.

Thank you so very much! I live in the heart of the U.S.A. This is a thistle. I was told a few months ago that it was in other parts of the world. I bet it is the same plant.
