Very cool bird. I love how you've cropped it so he comes into the photo on the upper right corner and angles down to the lower left. I would really like to see the colors brighter and perhaps some highlights.

Great form in this bird. The curves create great interest. Good color tones. Strong composition. Lighting works well. A bit of noise.

I really like the composition..a bit different with the main subject facing left. nice capture of the eye. I think it is a little grainy, and I would have blurred the background a little more for the drama..but the shot is well lit, good luck in the contest. Donkeyoatey

Thank you so very much! I think if I had used the despeckle filter it would have gotten rid on the grain. I need to try that!

sometimes it is the resize that adds grain to theshot when it compresses too. Donkeyoatey

Great composition, detail and color. What I like the most is that it is just the head and the curved neck of the heron. Usually I see them in flight or standing (as when I try to take their pictures). So, I can appreciate this unique shot alot. To get 10 feet away is really special! Great shot.
