This is an outstanding photo of a heron in flight. The primary feathers are so visably spread. The color of the water and the contrasting colors of the bird are almost shocking. This is professional work. The sharpness is what caught my eye at first. Great work!

I think I would give a bit more space to the left to give moew impression of space and where the heron is flying.

Comments: A cyber 5.5 is headed your way. Great picture of the Great Blue Heron. They are very difficult to photograph in flight because you will be zeroed in on them when they are sitting still with all the telephoto you have. Because their wing span is so large you then need to have something less than telephoto at Max. The other thing difficultly about capturing them is the surroundings including the tops of the wings and head and neck and the environment tend to be light. The underneath of the wings is difficult to capture a lot of detail. That is one of the problems with this picture. There is very little detail underneath the wings and lower body. You have done well in capturing this great bird. There is a reason they are called GREAT. Thanks for sharing.

Your patiente paid off. Great shot in motion, you set the camera to do a great freeze of the action and yet I can see the full motion in progress. Great contrast it gives more weight to the shot.

Wow! You caught him. Catching shots like this is always a function of having the camera ready and luck. They usually do not pose. Sense of motion is present and his coloring is very attractive. Likewise the color of the water seems true. Perfect focus and well composed especially given the spontaneity of the situation. Great.
