This is a great action shot. It appears as though portons of the bird are out of focus, but it's so minimal in comparison to the overall shot. Love the wing span, the clarity in the colors and the water. His skinny little legs stretched out...something I haven't seen captured yet.

Thank you so very much! I know the focus is a little soft in the face. He came out of the water and flew straight at me which is very unusual. It is really fast shooting. Normally I would not post the soft focus but in this case most of it is and I really like the wings.

This is a magnificent shot of the big fella--wings extended, feet kicking, trying to take off. They don't look all that graceful trying to take off because of their size but after a few seconds, no problem. The composition of the photo is great and you had a terrific angle to capture this shot. The blurry background in combination with the alternating blue-greens of the water provide a wonderful contrast for the action of the heron taking off.
Looking forward to the next shot of the big fella...going to make a living off this guy...lol

Thank you so very much! When the light is right I get shots of him every day. I got some this morning. They are nesting now (12 nests= 24 birds). They have babies to feed so they are busy day and night. I have trouble with fishermen as the boats scare them off. But when things are right they put on a show for me!
