Lilies make such pretty pictures and you did a very good job on this one. I love the rich color of the flower with the dark background.
Good luck in the contest

Funny..my grandma called these ditch lillies, and we would dig them out and replant! Now my wife does it! LOL! nice and sharp, and a great capture of a beautiful wilflower, I really like the bit of shadow on the bud. Donkeyoatey

Thank you so very much! I have never heard them called ditch lillys but that is where I always find them. Are they wild flowers?

I think when the settlers came from Norway and Sweden, theybrought them over and they got moved around a lot..I think now, they may possibly be considered 'wild' Donkeyoatey

Beautiful Lilly, Willie. To think that just some place on the side of the road was once home to someone who planted, nurtured and cared for this flower. Great capture with the dark background. Focus is wonderful and the cropping is excellent. Well done.

Even by your high standards, Willie this is a magnificent shot of the lowly field Lilly. Not sure of the scientific name but that's one name they go by in these parts. And not that they aren't beautiful in their own right. But they have 2 things to push them down. The one is their prolific growth habits make them so common we ignore them. The other is that they are compared to the famous Tiger Lily and they just don't have the same jazz to keep up. But your fine composition with the usual sharp focusing and cropping certainly gives them some nice press.

Ahhhhh, just perfection in beauty and color. Excellent clarity and detail, and great composition! Love the black background against this vivid orange. The few buds in there are a fabulous touch. Completes the presentation, which is just wonderful! A pleasure to view!
