Very nice, Have always been a fan of pointillism and know how difficult it can be patience wise, I am positive the upload does not give this work the justice that one would see in person being able to view it from afar. Great work, James

Great artistic skill, I might of wanted some more space infront of him, so it doesnt appear trapped. Very nice though. And your PROFILE Picture is phenominal! Wow what a shot.

I can imagine this technique must require an awful lot of patience. Technically it looks correct to me. There is plenty of negative space beside the animal so it appears to be looking into the space rather than out of it. The proportions look correct and the attention to detail is excellent.
When it comes to story telling, I see no story in it. I just see a picture of an animal. I think the eye on the left of the screen needs more definition and more black in it to match the other eye. I am sure it looks better in real life than it does on the screen. The photo lacks light and clarity to me. I think online presentation is important and I suggest you photograph your art outside in good light rather than indoors. Overall, I think the work is great. With a few adjustments I think it would look excellent on line.

Now you may review my review and let me know if the review is up to standard?

I have updated the rating since you made the adjustments to the image.
It looks better now. That left eye is a lot clearer and the light looks far better. I cannot see any flaws in it. Excellent work.

I think the review you have written is fine, it has given me your observations. i will try and do the outside lighting and see if that improves the presentation on the artwork. for you information it was shot inside, in studio with studio lighting. but I did have major issues down loading to the site, anyway not an excuss just teh reality of it.

    blujdrawings,
    you are welcome!
To me being able to do pointillism effectively involves a lot of areas of art, to me it is a ability of understanding colors, light, composition and how they work off of one another to create other shades and hues. It is the artist over time developing a deft hand and really well coordinated synchronization movement between what the eye sees, really looking, the how mind interprets those visual ques and then the hand (s) unexciting. It is the ability to create a flow.

This piece is all done using various colored artist markers (ink), each dot is laid down individually by hand, by the artist, this is not a computer generated image in any way, shape or form. This image is 5 x 7 inch piece that took me 8 hours to draw. I am selling singed and numbered limited edition prints of the image, if interested go to the buy icon.

Thank you for your time and review, they are all appreciated.
    Cheers!!!

I admire you patience in dotting. It must be take weeks to place thousands of little dots. I like the impressionistic effect very much, especially the shading and color at the eyes the throat and the nostrils. For me it dos have a second effect as well. Its as if the buffalo looks through a rain curtain at me, which is due to the muted colors as the pointillism style I think.
All the best for the contest.

I will always love art that depicts these awesome bovines, but I am especially impressed with your technique, wich seems exhausting to contemplate!
I appreciate the varied colors used to shadow and contrast. This is really well done!
By the way, thanks for hosting so many nice contests for Traditional artists...I was able to join your Birds of Prey one,and really enjoyed all the submissions..(though I don't think you posted one?)
Again, nice job on a rarely used technique!
Jenny

Must take ages to complete a work like this with all those dots (I read your notes). The effect is very different and one which I find appealing. When you look closer into the image you can see there are lots of tones of each colour which clarify details of the beast. I like the composition showing mainly the face but some bulk of the huge body of these animals. Very much in keeping with the theme of the contest, so Good Luck in that.

I do like this tech Miquelon but it is tedious...takes a lot if patience. I don't like to do this a lot but have done small areas. You did I a fine job too nice use of colors. Is it ink or paint? Digital?

    doris1022,
Maybe more info then you wanted.
To help you better understand the technique and help appreciate the work here is the definition, from Wikipedia:

Pointillism (pron.: /Ë?pwÉ?ntɨlɪzÉ?m/) is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of pure color are applied in patterns to form an image. Georges Seurat and Paul Signac developed the technique in 1886, branching from Impressionism.

The technique relies on the ability of the eye and mind of the viewer to blend the color spots into a fuller range of tones. It is related to Divisionism, a more technical variant of the method. Divisionism is concerned with color theory, whereas pointillism is more focused on the specific style of brushwork used to apply the paint.[1] It is a technique with few serious practitioners today[ and is notably seen in the works of Seurat, Signac and Cross.

    From me:
