A lovely clear shot of the heron Pity you didn't choose a wider dof to give us clarity of the boat and its passengers. The rain is really clear, I like the reflections which add to the
presentation of this shot. Thank you, Mairi

First off Good luck in the contest! Second thank you for sharing, I truly hope your patience pays off as this is a beautiful picture, I love the contrast in the colors in this photo! Catching the rain drops in the water while keeping your subject in the foreground, good work!

Beautiful bird and picture. I only wish the people in the back ground were not in the picture. They distract from the true beauty of the bird. All in all well done.

Good nature shot, great subject matter, love the bird in the foreground, the rain doesn't seem to bother him as much as the people in the background, is he also waiting for a fish,

Your image of the heron, the rain, and the reflective colors from the boat are quite beautiful.
Your focus on the heron is excellent.
I think since the boat and men are in the center in line with the heron you might have had a greater depth of field so that they were in focus as well. Failing that I wonder if increasing the blur in the background might not work to your advantage. You might play around with it and see.
Your image itself is beautiful and the color tones the boat and men provide add to the beauty but they are in conflict with the clarity of your foreground and may be viewed as distracting.
I wish you the best of luck in the contest.

Thank you so very much! I needed a shot for the rain contest. I found this and thought it would work. I understand what you are saying.

It is a beautiful image. I just felt these issues might hinder your entry but you never really know in these contests. Bren

Very good focus and depth of field has resulted in really great detail in the bird. I might be tempted to crop one side a little to take it more off center. Still a good shot though!

Very sharp focus on the heron with some blurring of the fishermen in the boat. The reflection of the raincoat adds detail to the photo and the colors blend in well.

I am wondering who is doing the fishing - the bird, the people in the boat - or both! Very entertaining shot! Like the bird perched on the pole in the middle of the river. Very good focus on the bird with a slight blur to detail in the background so as not to detract from the subject. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so very much! They are all fishing but the heron is more likely to catch something!
