The pointillism also works well to suggest flying snow. I used to live in western Canada, so I know how these guys hunker down in snow storms, relying on their thick wool to protect them from the cold and damp, and also how the light goes flat with limited color.

    tinlight,

I think with any media and technique used the challenge is to try and capture reality, I am pleased to hear you think I accomplished that with this drawing.
Thank you for having taken the time to look and then leaving me your thoughts on my artwork, it is truly appreciated.

This is truly amazing Lucien! So meticulously rendered with all those dots,Wow!. it certainly looks really cold, with that, you certainly have succeeded in portraying. The two Bison are amazing! Spectacular work!

Lucien, one cannot help but feel the coldness of this image. You have presented it to us by way of two methods.

First of all the visual pathway takes us immediately to those two Bison standing rigidly and huddled close to each other, giving each other protection from the elements and warmth, this gives birth to story. Secondly, it is in the colour palette whereby we get feeling, colour always imparts a temperature to images. Your scant usage of blue in order to show white has worked well and we see there is snow covering these animals.

From this side of the world the dimensional hump on that left beast looks like a white overturned whiskey shotglass and looks disproportionately huge with a veil like cover slanting towards the animal on the right. Lucien, if you add a bit more points on that "veil" it might look a bit more realistic.

I love how you have so adeptly shown a blustery day and depicted moement in the background with a lot of action felt especially in the right hand side.

I like the cropping and framing and feel it is well done and the fact that I can see one eye looking at me "miserably" gives this even more of an emotional tug.

You have succeeded in showing cold, yes, reality has been well shown in various ways.

Wow - I've never heard of pointillism. I like the effect. You definitely accomplished the goal of catching freezing snow. The images are wonderfully depicted and drawn by a very talented artist. The detail, scale, colors - everything is very pleasing. I like this method. I look forward to seeing more. :-)

This is just wonderful, and truly, it looks so very cold! Your pointillism is outstanding, with such detail using this technique. Very fine work. The bison are really good, and this is a masterful image. I enjoyed it.

Impact 5 color 4.5- personally think there needs to be more white to show snow or cold but you do have snow covered shrubbery in background. Think it nicely done with the dots.

The pointillism is well done here as is the color and shading. However the bison look a little stretched vertically- maybe its the photo transfer? The fading effect with the background is well done.

Love the snow swirls
and the snow on their faces and back.
I don't know a lot about this type artwork, but I do know you are very talented.

Burrr! This scene successful conveys the cold weather. The technique is fabulous. The pair of buffalo are expertly done. My first glimpse of the scene, I thought it was a photo. The swirling snow effect makes me feel sorry for the buffalo. Beautiful artwork.

We had our first blizzard this weekend, everything melted already, but this is a lovely painting. Really like the texture of it, the snow dots make it more interesting. Really great color. Might have taken the second buffalo a little more out of shadow to see his eyes. thanks much for sharing.
