Congratulations on winning the Green Contest MM. This is, to me anyway, such an unusual Butterfly but wow have you shown it beautifully.

Spot on crisp focus...every detail in those amazing wings so well presented. The colors are something else....I might not even spot this one w/ those colors. It is well exposed and the soft green background frames him beautifully. Lovely work here MM.

I love butterflies. You have produced a supremely detailed picture of a butterfly in all its' glorious double-winged pageantry. I also admire the vivid green plant foliage.

Thank you very much. I try (often without this much success) to keep the plane of the wing parallel to the film plane in order to keep sharp focus across the entire wing. The depth of field when using a macro lens hand held is very shallow even if you are able to stop down a bit. Glad you like this one. Thanks again.

Really good one of this butterfly and with real good detail and sharpness in the butterfly, just of centre which gives it room to move and good vertical format in this...brian

I absolutely love this one as the background is perfect to show the detail of the patterning on the wings and the texture of both leaf and butterfly. Excellent lighting, focus and dof. :) Mary

Thank you very much. At the local butterfly house this one was most cooperative. He stayed in place while I changed to a macro lens and approached to within a few inches. Nothing like a little cooperation from your subject. Glad you like it. Thanks again.

A beautiful picture of the Malachite Butterfly alaghted on a green leaf it's wings closed to show the beautiful underside patterns & colours of cafe au lait & soft green. it's legs, head & antennae are all clearly seen in sharp focus. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you very much. Taken at the local butterfly house. The light was nice and this guy was very cooperative. He stayed still while I changed to a macro lens and approached to within a few inches. Nothing like a little cooperation from a beautiful subject. Glad you like it. Thanks again.

A cyber 6 rating for color, charm, clarity & overall impact!
Sharply focused fine design features & soft fragile textures.

Excellent choice of subject.
Nice perspective & narrow DOF really sets the exotic winged creature apart from the backdrop!

Thanks for sharing...

What a gorgeous capture of this green butterfly. I don't think I have ever seen one of these before. The focus and detail are spot on. The green
leaf perch is perfect and the soft green background makes the photo complete.
Best of luck in the contest.

You certainly have got a lot of green into this photo! Your fine composition provides us with a good look at your delicate butterfly. Exposure and sharpness are good. Well done and good luck!
