I admire the creativity of this piece. There is so much depth and lovely texture involved and the whirlwind of flowers is attractive. It seems to compliment Van Gogh! The color scheme looks great.

You are the QUEEN of layers Cara Annie!! 14!! Thud:::::::::::::! ==}O
Sir Vincent is even flabbergasted at this creative piece!
You really worked hard on this. Not an easy contest using another's photo but you took it to a NEW level and created a unique piece. Love the warm earth tone colors and the addition of one of your own sunflowers.
OUTSTANDING work!
Good Luck!!

What an interesting contest here AV...took me awhile to figure out why everyone was doing up Sunflower pieces all of a sudden...lol

Now you have included my favorite painter in your piece.....how creative....and 14 layers AV. You most certainly put some time and effort into this piece. Van Gogh is beautifully color coordinated w/ your Sunflowers w/ that wonderful red beard and hair. I also like the way you've streamed your flowers above him while they are more softly presented below him. Your textured overlay is perfect....it adds a lot of depth and age to the piece....as does the crack running vertically just in front of him.

Marvelous entrant for this contest av. Your efforts here were well worth it....it's interesting and well done and easily deserves one of my gold stars. Just love this piece....best of luck to you and Vincent in the contest!

Deborah

I'm so glad I reviewed it when I did AV. My internet was out for four days at the end of this past week and I didn't even get to use all my gold stars.....bummer. So YOU are very welcome!

This seems to me a perfect idea for this contest. Van Gogh is probably the artist who painted the most famous sunflowers in history. It is a wonderful contradiction that those flowers in the picture are not his and that the patriot looking questioning at us is one rather unknown to many nova days. The coloring seems perfect to me. The brown shades represent not only the color of the sunflowers center which is also symbolic for autumn; it seems also to represent the mental condition of van Gogh. Best luck for the contest.

Very different, not sure if it has a meaning or just a lovely piece of art. The mans angry or Stearman look takes from it, but very interesting

This one made me LOL! I'm not sure Vincent is at all happy with his headdress here. Ha! Your knowledge and style are all your own, Annie. I think the given, bit of gnarly sunflower is made 'Annie lovely' here so comfortably tucked between bunches of your perfect sunflower. Perhaps that is what Vincent is wondering a bout...where the renegade dark one came from. :D

Your methods are always to be admired and marveled at. And your time spent has created another fun entry into this contest. Thank you for joining in the sharing. It would be great fun to be able to gather together in person and discuss our styles and methods in creating with the given flower. Thanks Annie!

Aptly captured for the contest theme...

Excellent choice of subject.
Dynamic presentation of the blooms in Vanishing viewpoint.

Diminishing perspective.
Antiquated overtone.
Vintage image.
Retro feel.
