It is not often we see Herons on ice here in FAR, and I especially like the way it is walking on it and the slight reflection from the bird in the water.

The bird is standing out really sharp and well defined against the background showing well defined details all over and the exposure is perfect.

The cropping is good and you have given the bird room to walk into. I think this is a lovely and well taken photo Willie, and with a very good DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

Thank you so very much! It has been so cold here that the lakes have frozen. I love to photograph these birds but I still like the warm weather.

Cracking wildlife shot this willie and a good pose you caught in this,always difficult to get something different in a wildlife photo,but getting this heron on ice does the trick,good one...brian

Gorgeous photo, but more contrast is needed. Brighter light. It seems the picture was taken in a twilight time, and it is hard to change what is happening in the picture, but composition could be better.
