I like the close view of this interesting looking owl. The pattern and markings in the wings are remarkable, and the way the face is outlined is quite the sight. I think your background looks very nice, both in color and texture.

Really a peaceful view. Love the natural blue sky as your backdrop, your trees are slightly blurred giving them a painted feel. Lighting is soft and natural, that blue water is the added touch to the beauty of your photo.wonderful point of view!

A very nice looking barn owl. The image is well composed and shown in great natural colors. I like the soft background that makes the owl stand out so nicely. Best of luck in the contest.

I adore owls and you have done a great job in capturing this beauty, I like the owl perched on its look out post as it looks straight towards you, good placement in the frame with off centre positioning,
The bird stands out really well against the soft light in the back ground, nice focus
I love the heart shaped face would
Be a good one for
Hearts in nature.
Great contest entry
Good luck.

A fantastic capture of this majestic and beautiful bird of prey, The Owl (unsure of species). Great timing and positioning shows the Owl in a near perfect pose, looking right at the viewer as though weighing us up for its next meal! It's not that I don't believe you, but the lower wings and chest fade and look like they have been edited digitally, but I take your word from your description! The colours and patterns are complex and varied, and range from black to brown, right through to white and of course the face with the heart shaped rim around it - don't be fooled it'll take your face off with that beak!! haha. A great shot which i accentuated by the sharpness and the short DOF which creates the perfect light blue blurred b/g, accentuating the subject further. Great ork and best of luck in the polls! :)

Actually I think I over sharpened the lower portion on the advise of another reviewer who said they are looking dull. This can be corrected! The distant shot is not perfect I know. But I liked the overall effect of the image.

Nice capture. Expressive. I think a vertical format will better suit the subject thus eliminating it from being in the vey center of the image. Then some lightinening of the dark feathers would bring our interesting detail

nice blur supporting background and good focus in the bird, but the partial branch on the right pulls my eyes to it and distracts

good luck with the contest and thanks for sharing

This is a great entry for this contest. The sweet barn owl with its heart shaped face. Lots of people like barn owls for this reason. Focus is OK but not perfect. Please see it what FAR uploaded matches the sharpness of your original image. I really like this composition. I like how the background is blurred. Thank you for sharing and best of luck with this image

I notice that the owl itself was blurred not just the b/g
