I think these are such beautiful birds and you have captured such lovely detail of the facial features and the feathers. It doesn't look like you took the shot through a window. There's a nice amount of light in his eye and the texture of his feathers stands out nicely.

Hi Barbara thanks for sharing this stunning red cardinal ,taken through your window. Beautiful capture of this stunning feathered friend. Just look at his colourings .. absolutely outstanding against the white snowy background.. His black feathers around his beak are striking and give a great contrast to his red crest.. which is standing nicely for the world to view. His puffed up little body indicates he is feeling comfy and safe , sitting there on the branches . Perfect balance in your photo. with the branches setting a nice frame around the bird's body. Excellent job with this red bird.
The near monochromatic background really sets off the color and highlights the fine detail in the feathers and especially the comb.
Central positioning of this diagonal shape gives balance and presence to this piece.
DOF includes all of the bird and just the right amount of branches to have in sharp focus. Very nice background bokeh.
The males eye is most difficult image sharply, especially on an overcast day but you did a splendid job.

I have painted a few cardinals. I was surprised the first time when I noticed the brown on the wings and tail. This is a handsome male. Focus is OK. Nice compositiin. Well framed. I like the blurred background. Thank you for sharing and best of luck with this image.
