Very nice painting. I like the way you did her expression from her eyes to mouth. Great one in the hair. I like the background as well. Very cool description. Thanks for sharing.

Hestia you have brought her to life in this portrait. The eyes are the most vital part in a portrait and her's are captivating and I like how they follow you where ever you go. Good artists notes and I enjoyed read your thought processing for this art work. Good visual impact....and the initial impact is Hestia those eyes and how realistic you painted her with perfection, beautiful facial feature, good expressive eyes, but it's your play with light and shadows and shading making her spectacular. Most interest and intense background does accentuate her and make her this goddess and accents her gorgeous hair even more. Good facial proportions and body proportions. Your brush strokes are beautifully done with good blending and shading of colors. A winner for the Portrait Art Contest and good luck. A creative and talented art work. Thanks for sharing!

Well thank you very much Mary. I still have so much to learn. Not book learning, the kind of learning where you do something without thinking, like the muscle memory stuff.

This is a lovely paining.
You have done a wonderful job by tying in your subject and the background along with your story.
Your background is very well blended an tapered from one color to the next.
Hestia is portrayed here as a very beautiful woman with beautiful red hair.
Your ability to gain the detail in her facial features with oil paint.
Your technical strokes with oil, they are so smooth.
This is a wonderful painting and cood luck in the contest.

Thank you for your five star vote and your critique. Your comments are very grown up. I looked at your site. So, I have a few things to say as a Grandfather. My grandkids call me papa. You are welcome to do the same if you want to. You have ability and an imagination. Develop those with practice, learning and dreaming. I suggest you aim your efforts at creating objects of beauty and stay away from the dark side. You know what I mean. Doing work on the dark side is seductive and people will praise you and help you along the path to the nublet. Once you are there, no escape will be offered as people use you. Your life will be painful and short. Remember, I am a grandfather. I have seen more than you can imagine.

If you choose the path towards the light with your art, you will find supporters and a large audience willing to buy your work. You will never be paid what you think your work is worth, but you will sell your art. Your art will be accepted into mainstream contests, shows and galleries and I doubt that anyone will be able to use you. So, think hard about which path you want to follow as you learn and develop your artistic skills. I really look forward to seeing the work you do in the path of light. I am no where near wanting to see any work done by anyone who produces depictions of anger, hate, pain, use or abuse.

So, think hard and choose well little one, choose well.

Wow! A Strong portrait painting. Vibrant colors. Skilful composition: well-defined centre of interest perfectly framed to accentuate the theme of the Greek Goddess! It is so classical in its concept and execution and in its atmosphere. Good Luck in the contest!

Thanks for your six star vote and your comments, John? I intend to reveal what I learned from the old masters when I post the last portrait of this collection. I have never had it explained or demonstrated to or for me by any other artist or teacher. I suspect it is because none of them either knew or could put into simple enough words for me to understand. Stay tuned for Amphitrite.

Wow right back at you. You are the first person to correctly identify the eye color as green. In fact, all four of my Greek goddesses have green eyes, but somehow people see them as blue. So, a big thank you for your five star vote and your comments Galia.

Hi Carl thank you for sharing this wonderful artistic creation of the mythical greek goddess Hestia. If I had 6 stars to give they would surely be yours. As I gaze into her beautiful eyes so nicely rendered, I see a peaceful wise and welcoming soul. I love the brush work used to render her skin tones.. the highlighted areas around her forehead cheeks, chin and nose accentuate her fine facial features as do the shaded areas defining structure and shape. Her deep blue eyes are perfectly positioned as noted in your accompanying story.. and the eyelashes are neatly rendered to further accentuate the beauty within. Love both the shape and colour used to render her eyebrows.. a nice blend of browns/red hues that compliment her hair tones well. The shading under her eyes defines them well and gives them a deep set appearance on her face.. the slightly opened mouth is well formed, with lips showing a hint of upturned corners, and just a small glimpse of her white teeth.. gives her a pensive emotion.. her cheek colour is nicely blended in towards her jaw line and her hair is beautifully framed around her face.. Its soft lines add to her natural beauty. Love the brush strokes used to render her flowing long hair that nicely brushes over her shoulders and down her back. excellent colours of reds browns and earthy hues blended together to give her a rich and warm emotion.. even the occasional strands of hair on her forehead add to her raw and impacting appeal. the inclusion of her shoulder and upper chest offers a soft and sensual approach to her portrait.. the skins tones are beautifully blended, showing shading and highlights to accentuate her feminine frame. Wonderful choice of background colour.. the firey red orange and yellow hues compliment her hair tones and her complexion nicely. They resemble a beautiful sunset and the mythical goddess has a feeling of inner strength and wisdom emanating from within. thank you for sharing this beautifully rendered work of art Carl.. I truly admire your technical skills and your painting has been an absolute treat to review. cheers mel

Thank you for your five star vote and your comments. This is the best, most accurate, element by element description and the longest review I have ever received on anything I have ever done. I am honored. If you have time, which you probably do not if you give this kind of review on everyone, take a look at Eternal Beauty, Eternal Beauty II and the text on each. Then go to asingularcreation.com and click on the open theme contest box. Click on the, View Contest Entries Here, text. Look at the pictures and at the bottom of that page you will see numbers in boxes. Click on box number 3. Scroll down on page 3 to see Eternal Beauty and Eternal Beauty II. Click on the pictures. I say this because you can see a larger picture than is on this site. Hope the time you spend doing this is worthwhile to you. And I hope you enjoy the effort.

You accomplished your goal. She does look as though she is studiously looking at the viewer. Your skin tones are superb and the Auburn hair is so appropriate for this goddess. I like the golden halo about her head. Very well done!
