Wow, this is an awesome capture. It looks as though he posed fr you and was about to cover his eyes. Well focused and lighting is great. Congrats on your win. Highly deserved.

Clarity is great, the look on the birds face is wonderful! I can think of so many things this bird could be saying right now. I do wish the colors were a little brighter but the focus is spot on! Thank you for sharing! I have missed seeing your photos!

This definitely has a very eerie look to it,you have aptly titled this,as it does resemble an avian version of Dracula-I think it's cool! This creepy pelican portrait is well centered and nicely cropped, dof excellent and your sharp focusing brings out all the detail in that gorgeous plumage, and you can't help but stare into those eyes! Very nicely done! LeeAnn

This is beautiful Mike. The perfect amount of the face is showing and the direct eye contact with those blue-white eyes is great. I also really like the raindrops on his plumage. The exposure and framing are very nice.

Thank you very much. As I recall this pelican was sleeping and as I got a little closer he opened his eyes and stared at me. I thought the resulting image looked a little like The Count from Sesame Street. Glad you like it. Thanks again.

Very cool shot. Beautiful composition of this face peaking through his wing feathers. His gaze directly into the camera is captivating. Good DOF to get the bird in focus and a nice soft background. Very nice.

This is a showstopper! He looks like a person huddling down into his feather overcoat...while trying to keep his hair from being mussed up by the rain.

Your camera techs were excellent here. I love the tight crop. But would also like to see the full view...perhaps you took more than one photo of his in this position. If this were mine I would have to add a little more of the frame onto the right....you know the routine...give him someplace to look into..

Clarity is outstanding. You have controlled the usually distracting reflection in the water droplets.

Anyway... an absolute delight to view! Well done, Mike~

Thank you very much. It was surprising to see this bird that spends half its life in the water all huddled up in the rain. I think he was sleeping but as I got closer he opened his eyes and stared at me. He reminded me of The Count from Sesame Street. Very glad you like it. Thanks again.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!
Outstanding bird Photography Mike! I prefer shooting in the rain to get unique shots like this.
Your title is perfect and your focus is Sharp with excellent eye clarity.
The larger birds use their wings like a cape to regulate their body temps. Birds trap tiny pockets of air under their wings, if they get wet they can get cold too fast.
So the herons, Egrets, Woodstorks, Pelicans...all hunker down during a rainstorm.
Your camera techs are spot on here from white Balance to focus.
One of your best rainy day photos Mike!!
Bravo!!
