The close up of the Lucifer is exceptional. As for the description, it is fascinating. I like the focus as it seems to be a macro photo with the background blurry from flower being taken so close up. Very well done. PS, I have way too many, and would send you some if you like. LOL.

Ah...someone who actually grows CROCOSMIA! Not a hugely well known flower Nancy. Are yours the red ones? orange?? They have a new golden-yellow variety you know. Would love to try THEM! Anyway, do appreciate he wonderful review....and the offer...lol I can't imagine having too many of these guys.

You are very welcome Deborah. By the way, we don't grow Crocosmia, they just multiply. LOL. We need to move all of ours to someplace where we can see over them.

They do get big don't they...lol Fortunately, I gave mine lots of room when I added them to my gardens.
reply by Nancy Montana on 09-Jul-2018
LOL. We had no idea how large they would get when we planted. Live and learn. Ours are so thick this year we had to tie them up to keep them from covering 1/2 of the garden. Oh, but they are beautiful.

You could thin them out. They're tough. Be ruthless and yank a bunch out. Just be careful where you toss them....lol in case they take root and start growing there too.

Ha. Ha. Ha. They are just too tall for the garden they are in. We are going to have to build a new garden for all of our large plants. LOL

Wow! A gorgeous capture of the vibrant red Crocosmia flower. Perfectly cropped and a good placement of the flower in your frame. Well photographed with sharp focus and good lighting revealing good details and clarity in your image. Your artistic background make this an outstanding shot. This is very nice work and thanks for sharing!

Deborah,
A beautiful picture of this flower spike of the bright red Lucifer Cocosmia / Monbretia in bud. It's shape like a feather or Fish Bones. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
I collected three bulbs from Wild Monbretia 30yrs ago growing on a lake shore on the West of Ireland & now my garden is lined with it they are orange in colour.

I've seen the orange ones but have never added any to my gardens Susan. Maybe next season I'll try a couple. Thank you as always for giving one of my flowers such a lovely review. Always appreciate it.

Very nice shot of a very difficult flower to capture. I like the colors and I like having the other matching flowers in the background. A little vignette might pull you into the shot better. The background is a bit bright but it still works. Good job and well seen.

Even more difficult once they've fully blossomed Charles. My favorite bright red color....lol...always a challenge there. Do appreciate your suggestions here....may actually try a bit of a vignette. Thank you so much.

Absolutely beautiful. The contrast between the green background and the colors in the flower makes a very appealing photo. Focus and depth of field are very well done. Lighting is excellent.

Sounds like an evil scene given the plants name! But it does look beautiful!! Your nice image benefits from being well composed, sharp with good exposure! Nicely taken!!

This has got to be the coolest looking plant I have seen ! I love the vivid color tones, the shape of the buds, the way it grows downward! This is well photographed with good focus, well controlled exposure and colors that just pop! Artists notes are interesting and appreciated as well, I can't wait to see your future post showing this in full bloom! I love the name " Devils Tongue " just awesome! Thank you for sharing this !

Thank you for your informative notes on this very interesting plant. I I've the spikes and would love to see another image when the buds are fully open. Are they a perennial?

I love when you show us stages. This is quite an impressive pre-bloom specimen. Your color and detail show it off beautifully. Excellent notes on a new plant for me. Now I await the full blooms. Ed.

You'll be surprised Ed! ...and between you and me it's one of my most difficult flowers to photograph when in full bloom....that bright red color can be a bitch. Hope I can say that lol Thank you as always for giving my flowers such a good look and thoughtful review. I do really appreciate it Ed.

LOL you may use the word 'beautiful' in regard to one of my posts as many times as you like Dear Sean! Personally, I almost prefer them as this stage here...definitely get the Devil's Tongue look, yes?? Anyway, you are just a peach for checking it out and thank you so very much for the excellent rating. You have no idea how much I appreciate it.
