amazing photo. What has surprised me is his pink paw. I somehow didn't expect a soft pad of a paw, yet ofcourse, all animals have them, like cats, dogs etc. It must be very hardened in the terrain they run about in.

Thank you so much Fred! Yes he looks pretty sweet , but I am absolutely terrified of them. Here on the river, they are pretty much concerned with fishing and not the people.

Awesome! A really clear image of a subject with many hairy contours. You even clearly captured the face, the thoughtful expression, and bottom of one foot! Thanks for sharing, Daphne Oberon

Grandfather, what big claws you have! the better to tear you to shreds my dear. An amazing wonderful creature, best left to his own preferences. I have only seen them in zoos. Even there, they are formidable. You can see that he is still alert even while taken a rest. Great capture and I thank you for it.

A very nice nature shot presented here! Your lovely bear looks pretty contented with life. His pose though, to me as no bear expert, seems rather uncomfortable? Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely done!

Pat,
He is beautiful it's wonderful for us to see him in his natural surroundings & not behind bars in a Zoo.
I can see how dangerous he could become if provoked & would not want to see the damage he could do with his sharp claws & teeth. His size is impressive & I suspect his eyes far seeing along with his sharp sense of smell. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Thank you so very much Sean! I am flat terrified of these guys! I met a guy this summer who was left blind from a bear attack right off the trail to this river, it happened 15 years ago, he is lucky to be alive!

He does look relaxed and not at all threatening. A very nice shot with great detail in the bear and a nice icy setting. I like the composition and the great colors.

Thank you so very much! They don?t look threatening and on the river they pretty much mind their business, they are here for fish.

Abundant fishing= large bear population? :-)
You are right: this bear does indeed look docile - as though he is waiting his turn to do some fishing himself. Or he's tired after going at it for a while. The sand beneath him looks almost white. You've captured a great moment here!
