This is a beautiful painting. The color scheme is so joyful and uplifting. I love the colors and patterns on your tea service. Placement of the items within the painting is perfect and well thought out. All the colors blend together nicely and have a nice combination of soft and bolder color. Love it!

Your story is wonderful and so is your picture. I love the livelinesa and the colours and design on the service. It's sounds a very tricky process so well done. I have mixed emotions about this. I think the flower dropping down from the top of the picture is distracting. It's the first thing that caught my attention and I know that is not what you are going for. If it were me, I would remove the flower and the greenery behind the cup. leave the yellow flowers and bird. The center would look a bit bare. Your could add a bird flying in headed for the table. I'm not real fond of the lower right and left corner either. I'm sorry. I'm taring your picture apart. I mean it in a kind way and it is just my opinion.

Yes I thought of naming it Tea in the Jungle as this would tend to justify the type of background, but felt like I had so many references to jungle in my titles. It can be a diverse, wild and tangled environment with many tings going on. The way you suggest would show of the tea service more and has other advantages as well I agree! Daphne Oberon

a very delightful production. is such a serene scene, with some very pretty cups, mugs and teapot. with this one you have successfully combined a tasty looking table (complete with banana) and the very best of nature in the background. it's such a dark, grey day in london (with light rain) but this one really lifts the spirits. you packed many great details in this beautiful picture and the colours look like from another past-time. Thank you again for your six star rating! I sent you 3 different "role" photos by email with a tiny bit of background but no need to reply to those... also the Tea in the Mist file with a sending service looks like it went okay... as I said there, Shaun the Sheep is a TV series -- I bet your son would love that series -- just the best!(To my amazement, studies have shown sheep to not only be intelligent, but their reasoning is like humans -- more than monkeys I think I read -- the "sleeper anomaly" in the animal kingdom -- so much so that they are being used for medical experimentation for human drugs such as antidepressants -- I am totally against abusing animals this way......

thanks soo much daphne, you have made some brilliant art. yes we are only just starting to understand the intelligence of other animals. they have just learnt, that a species of crow and the cockatoo are able to make tools. they are the only animals (apart from us) that can do so.

Great work here Daphne. Ido so like the Quetzal dinnerware. I sawmy first Quetzal in Costa Rica a few years ago. Actually saw a breeding pair coming and going from a nesting box. Beautiful birds!

I like this scene you have created Daphne. The soft pastel colors give such anicecalmingeffect. The red end of the banana stalk stands put and catches the eye. Great entry for the contest and I wish you well Daphne ~ Steve

Thank you very much Steve! That red end on a stalk is actually a bromeliad -- stange species of plant! This is a quote from my memoir where I mention them...: When Uli and I neared the site of the old Program Room in which my father once delivered his talks, it intrigued me to notice that rare and complicated bromeliads that had taken root in the mulch. As though some aberrant logic had shaped them too, their twisted canes only sprouted leaves on the outside arc. The eccentric orange flower-cones that capped each cane opened and then retracted only one petal per day.

Yikes! I hit the wrong button on my mouse and all my replies disappeared! Well, unfortunately the second go around will be shorter. Thanks very much -- hope you are getting along okay? How are your eyes? I think my orange-topped flowers, of which I have two in this composition, are bromeliads... I like to include banana and other big leafy plants because the leaves are simple and not too detailed so they don't compete with other more detailed subject matter. My friend who was enthusiastic about your photos has been sick, but is getting better now. I will bring them up to her again soon... Take care, Daphne Oberon
