A lovely clock with great background but wish there were some way to bring out the detail considering the light is behind this magnificent piece! Wouldn't the shadows and highlights feature in Photoshop do this? Very well shot considering the lighting! My admiration! Daphne Oberon

    Daphne,
Thanks a million for your complementary review on this ornate clock.
It was taken with my tiny Nikon Coolpix Camera. I don't have Adobe Photo Shop & my computer is 12 years old so can no longer update. Apart from this as a rule I do as little as possible to my pictures, unless & use the Kaleidoscope or create a collage.

Just so you can make out the detail better, I can Photoshop a version for you. If you like, send it in an email attachment to daphneoberon@gmail.com. The larger the file the better -- more pixels! Daphne Oberon

    Daphne,
Thanks for the offer but I only have very limited space on my hard drive & having the original photo is enough on my hard drive & the camera's memory card. Thanks again.

It's a beautiful clock and very unusual. I wasn't able to make out the monkeys from the photo. A little more zoom on the photo might have brought them more into focus. The lighting is good though.

    Julie,
Thanks a million for your great review on this ornate clock. If you are looking at it on your phone or tablet is not that easy to see the Monkeys but if you look on a PC or laptop top it's easy to see them . I took the picture with my old Nikon Coolpix Camera about the size of a small amount smart phone or a pack of ,20 , cigarettes. With just a 4x, zoom. My present camera has a 20x zoom.

That makes sense. I'll have to look at it again. I was using my computer.

This is a beautiful clock! So ornate! I saw that you took the picture in front of a window. So is the trees and blues what was behind the ladder? The problem with shooting into the light is the piece you are taking the picture of looks too dark. I saw that you tried to adjust for the light, but it still does not bring out the detail of the clock. That is your focal point and must be seen clearly. That's just what I think and I don't mean to sound harsh. Just some constructive ideas.

    Mary,
I had NO choice but to take the clock against the light source as it was in a Museum & flash was NOT allowed ...
There is NO Ladder in the picture.
Above the Monkey musicians is the Organ with it's Organ Pipes.
On my computer I can see the details of the figurines clearly each & every one.
    Thank you despite this.

A very interesting looking clock, very nice details and textures and depth, like the frame, but looks a tad dark,
A pleasure to look at, thank you for sharing, dale

Amusing realization! ;-))

A rare find!
Vintage subject.
Retro feel.
Sharply focused.
Nicely framed.
Subtly lit.

Fantabulous Tiffany green or is it a turquoise blue backdrop.

Thanks for sharing...

loving your work susan. another grand picture, is very ornate and delicate. you made some good choices in all the right places. that framing is just amazing to. that clock is ornate x10. i wonder how long it took to construct, like a life-time of work.

Well I would not had noticed that they were monkeys if you had not mentioned the fact. What a beautifully ornate clock. They sure don't make them like this any more. Good focus with just the right amount of light balance. The frame was a good idea. Well done Susan ~ Steve

I can barely imagine the kind of setting where a clock like this would be appropriate. Exquisite detail. Do you remember if it might have been 9:18 when you took this one?

Thanks a million for your complementary review on the ornate clock. I took it in a cold February in Paris a number of years ago.
