Excellent composition. You caught him, with head turned to the side intent, perhaps, on prey. The bluish grey ring round the bottom of his neck;the ruffled feathers, above it,and, too, the red ring round his eye, display him, well. Grass, with touches of clover, about him complete the scheme.

I think these guys are so cool. You captured a nice pose with a goof view of his eye and red coloring. The color of his plumage stands out well too and I like how his neck feathers are fluffed up.

It is hard to believe that a bird of that size will weigh less than 10 pounds. A very nice shot in a setting that does not detract from the bird. I will try to tell them how beautiful Alaska is when they return in the spring.

nice capture of the crane, he looks a bit lost, is he alone

in Israel there is a place were 20000 or more cranes visit every year in the same time , so I am not used to see only one

thanks for sharing

such an expression of surprise, even when disguised by the red mask over his eyes, what has he seen, as he highsteps through the clover. I find the field fascinating too, the Cranes are in many places though fewer than we would like, but Alaska is Alaska and its nature belongs to it alone. So that is why birds etc flock there in the summer, not over industrialised nor every field used for some purpose, it still has lots of wild nature.

do you think that will ever change? I watch building Alaska nightly and wonder how long before it becomes like a holiday town!

Another of my favorite birds. I had never seen one since or last visit to Yellowstone. If one hasn't seen them in person, it's surprising how BIG they are. this is such a nice shot of this guy. I just love the side view of his beautiful face. The composition with the grass and flowers is really lovely. Thanks for sharing.

It is a cool Bir. He blends in with the grass not sure if that is on purpose or not. You got a great shot . Great focus and true colors. I like the eyes they remind me of a patch. Thanks for sharing.

This looks as if you used a telescopic lens. The crane seems not aware of any humans or cameras around. I like how you took a frontal shot why the bird looks to the side, so we see the head in profile. The bird is perfect placed at the left of center. The tall format is adequate for the pose of bird. I appreciate the realistic colors.

A beautiful picture of the Sandhill Crane watching you from the grass field rich with white Clover in bloom. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
