This is a great close view of her face and those ruffled feathers. The markings on her tail feathers really stand out well. You captured sharp detail of the nest. The construction of the nest is nice to see.

Thank you for the excellent review. I truly appreciate it. Did you see the egg she is laying? Go back and look. I was beyond excited.

Hi Mary, So glad you made it on and off the chair without injury. LOL! Your robin cleaning her feathers is a pleasure to view. I think females have a gray head while males have a black head. Her feathers are beautiful and she us beautifully framed in the photograph. Keep watching her because sooner or later there should be some pretty blue eggs peaking through.

I'm truly glad no one was harmed taking this photo, LOL. Yes it looks like she has at least one egg. I think they lay 3 to 5 but I'm not sure about that. For shooting through a window it's very clear so good job on that one. Also the color is well handled and the composition is very nice. PS get yourself a little folding kitchen ladder. It's cheaper and less painful than a broken bone. Take care

Thank you for the great review and the advice. I pulled the kitchen chair over to the sink and climbed up that way. I had my dirty feet in the sink, though. A good scrub took care of that. I think this is the same bird as last year. She laid in July and it was so hot. She had two eggs. Both flew the coop. If this is the same bird, she has grown. She could sit in the next and her tail not pop up. This year her tail hangs out of the nest. She's staying put and warming those babies. I can't wait for the hatching!!

Thank you so much for the excellent review. I truly appreciate it. I like the idea of having my own reality tv show. Can you make that happen?

what if i tell you that i can make a few suggestions that YOU can create that reality show..keep in mind im not a spring chicken either so this idea can be simple..im sure you using at least your phone to capture these images..you get many in the days to come..then pick the very best that will tell the cycle..(build the nest, lay egg, etc to the end)...now if you look on youtube.com you can download the free video maker program offered by youtube..it has simple templates and easy to understand instructions(even for us old timers)..which you can make up to a 10 minute video. you can add audio or other images..again playing with it is simple..i have an upgraded version but i did start with that simple one..better than microsofts version from the computer. just think..showing this miracle cycle of this bird with the perfect tune and you can throw in some edits and bang..you created a cute lil video..ill warn ya..it can be addictive..lolol..i have reviewed many your captures in the past so i know you do have the eye..now this idea can challenge yourself on creativity..yeah im daring ya cause i know you can do it..wink wink.lol

I will take that challenge. Right now she is just sitting on her eggs. I really think this is the same bird. Last year she didn't lay until July. It was so very hot for her. This year she is bigger and has laid her eggs much earlier. I was there for the birds getting out of the nest. One of the birds I follow taking pictures every chance I could. My new neighbor pulled into her driveway. I think she probably thinks I am a kook. Who knows? Maybe I am.

I see a possible contest winner here! This is a great photo Mary! I also love the title, it gives a hope!!! The composition is perfect! The colors are natural. The focus and clarity are nice! The photo shows the movement of a Robin laying an egg. I am glad she came back! Pleasureto review! Have a special week, Mary!!!

Than you so much for the excellent review. I truly appreciate it. I had so much joy watching last year. I am beyond happy to get to watch again. Thank you so much for the extra high rating. You have made an otherwise very unpleasant week take a turn for the better.

Pity the focus is on the nest and not on the bird, this takes from the initial impact

nice composition, presentation and story telling

thanks for sharing

Wonderful capture of this bird here and this moment is lovely . Good use of lighting brings good detail. Background works well to make the bird pop out here. Great job and top shelf this image

Lovely angled photograph reveals her grayish white feathers;and, too, the blue egg beneath Mama Robin. The details of the straw nest provide a nice contrast,in addition to a good home for her young.
Cordially,

What a great capture,I don't think I have ever seen a robin actually laying an egg,ley alone a picture of one doing so! Yes,i have had to use a chair to take a picture out of my kitchen window,as well as actually sit on the counter, depending on what I was attempting tp photograph! A great perspective for this wonderful photo, good focus and exposure, image is well composed. The very best to you in the contest with this image!
