A wonderful picture of this protesting male Redwing Blackbird perched on the stem of a dried flower his red & yellow epaulet drawing the eye directly to him & then his open beak letting us know he is protesting. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Wow. What an awesome scene you have captured here Barbara. The colors are bold and are so well accented by his black feathers.
I love the open mouth as it makes that wonderful call that one hears when approaching a pond. Such a cool call it makes.
Great composition here Barbara. I might have cropped in just a bit on the right to eliminate some of the dead space and focus even more attention on your beautiful bird. Not a big thing. Great work on this one Barbara ~ Steve

A very nicely composed and well focused image of this male redwing in mid call.He stands out well against the pale brown background of winter weeds.Nice capture of the detailing in the feet and the catch light in the eye.Image is nicely off centered and and very enjoyable to view!

Great shot. I know how difficult it is to bring out extreme colors in birds like this. To have both the black and red so vivid is really difficult. So, well done in achieving this so perfectly. Well done.
