How very detailed and colorful this is. I wonder it could make a great painting, but I would indulge a little green in the background but not so much as to take interest from the subject.

A beauty caught and perfected with your lens, and your talent. The black background adds so much depth and drama. The soft lighting on the petals brings out the colors perfectly. This is amazing.

This is one of my favorite flowers. On the way to where I kept my horses, for years there were wild iris along the road. The water changed it's flow, close to an old oak tree, and now there are no more iris there. I love the striking color of the three colors together. The lines that look like vanes, draw me to this flower all the more. beautiful capture of flower an buds.

This does indeed look like it should be in Claude Monet's garden. I lovely shot with good white balance. Good light management of the light and shadows. The vertical composition works well. Nice work Fred!

Yes, depth of field can vary according to focus. Your fine focus of the close up on the petals in the foreground also shows a "good" focus on the flower bud in the left background, in my opinion.
