I don't get to see grey herons in person so it is a treat to view this guy. He looks a lot like the blue herons only minus the browns. The details of the bird and the fish are sharp and attractive in this shot.

I have watched both herons and egrets fishing lately and am surprised at how much more successful the herons are. I like the light on this one. It gives you great details in the plumage and very nice colors.

The reeds along the bank & the Heron are reflected on the water in the foreground. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

Beautiful image, nice stop of this action,I see good detail over every part of this grey heron with his fresh caught fish in bill, he is in a good position in the frame , well focused, the image is clear, exposure is well managed, his colors and tones are natural, nice composition allows a good sense of this location. Quite the stealthy fisherman this heron has a nice meal to look froward too. I like how the light is hitting the head of the bird and highlighting the action. Good focus with good details and colors. Well seen and well shot.

This is a an excellent capture overall. The detail, structured clarity is well done. The color balance is excellent. The lighting draws the eye exactly like you would want it. I also like the reflection in the water.

Yes Fred what a fabulous moment and with that fish in the beak like that raises this from not only a nature study moment but an action one that tells a story!
