What a splendid portrait of this Great Blue. It seems a little out of focus though, or I need new glasses (and that is certainly possible LOL). I too like the way his feathers are blowing in the wind. The way you shot this is so much more interesting than a typical shot of the entire bird. He looks deep in thought and we wouldn't have necessarily noticed that if the entire bird was framed. Really nice.

Wonderful nature shot of this Great Blue Heron close up gazing at the sparkling waters, with the breeze blowing on him undeterred.
Fabulous light and marvellous camera skills. A pleasure to view!

From the gaze of the heron, I sense intensity, or perhaps frustration. Maybe a fish had passed by recently and the heron was reflecting on a missed opportunity. In any case, the photo is well focused with clear details. Lighting is good and the colors are natural and true.

This is beautiful bird photography. You have timed it well. The light, and the composition have worked well and you have caught the concentration on bird's face very well. Good effort.

Superb up close and very personal.
Compact framing shows great facial details and smooth plumage textures.
Subdued illumination.
Nice perspective & narrow DOF.

Thanks for sharing...

Grace,
A very beautiful picture of this Great Blue Heron apparently transfixed as it watches for movement in the water below the breeze tossing it's plumage & plumes about while the sun shines down between on it's head from behind & glows though it's long beak. Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

The stark gaze says he has something in his sights and is waiting for the moment to strike. Interesting composition since you have cropped it tightly to just the head and neck. Good focus with strong details. Nice eye. Good color. Well seen.

A very good shot. I like the composition of this profile. The look in his eye is fantastic and I really like the curl in his head plumes. Very nice details and great colors.

This is a great close up look at this heron! The light, color, and sharpness are excellent. What really stands out to me is the head plumes. It looks like he styled his hair that way! LOL
