I like how the swallow photo bombed your heron shot :) The heron's wings and the splashes in the water look very nice. Great action shot with nice light in the water.

Willie,
A cyber sis for this wonderful stop action picture of the Great Blue Heron coming up out of the water with a fish caught in it's long beak, it's wings on a down beat as it runs to take off from the water the spray it's thrown up frozen by your fast exposure while the Cliff Swallow seems to be flying towards the Heon. The light shining down from above is dancing on the ripples caused by the Heron's movement. Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

This is how it is when you are focused on one subject. Just a pity the swallow wasn't' even sharper, but Your stop action is very good. This means that you have captured so well the splashes of water and also the flapping wings of the bird.
The photo is very Sharp and it is such Clear and well defined details in every part of the bird, and the exposure is very good.
I also like the format you have cropped the photo into and the placement of the bird off to the right. A truly lovely and well taken action shot Willie, and With an excellent DOF. I wish you Luck With the contest.

Wow, what a great action shot! Catching the extra bird was such luck too. Always exciting to see things like that later on. Beautifully captured at a perfect moment with those fluttering wings and sprays of water. Perfect focus on the eye yielded great detail within the action. Best of luck in the contest.
