South American musicians

whilst I was a very mature student at Leipzig Uni nearly fifty years old, I often saw in my year there, these South American musicians. The Germans loved them, after years of grey communist order, they brought colour and a new difference to the city. Unfortunately, my room mate fell under their spell and went through them or they through her like a dose of salts- but that was that- till she brought one to our shared room (small) so he could shower and eat there and I had to go sit in a friend's room. Silly girl, we all thought, her parents were horrified, at the rapidity, and tried to talk to her, to which her answer was to call them NazisĀ¬ after they bought her a car. Her father was a church warden and quite brave as through all dictatorships, he had kept to his religion- I suppose she was equally stubborn in a way. One does idiotic things in ones youth- so did I too. She spent a lot of time telling me how in Communism all are equal- My dear, I told her, if you want to go down a coal mine, you go, I will remain a lady thank you, and have doors opened for me and coats taken. The men over there were extremely gentlemanly, at that time 1993- don't know now--!
