The Hare in Bluebell Woods

Nature Art Contest Contest Entry
Native to the UK, the hare is the larger eared cousin of the rabbit. The breeding season in Spring is where the phrase ?Mad as a March Hare? comes from when the male hares fight over the females. The babies are not born in burrows but in open ground and they are born with fur and their eyes open, unlike rabbits. This handsome boy is out in the bluebell wood in the Spring sunshine, looking for a mate - or a sparring partner.
