INFORMATION
When I was fifteen, I wandered into the local art supply store and decided to try my hand at painting. I discovered I had an aptitude for it, and I began teaching myself to paint. A few years later I was off to college and earned a degree in Graphic Arts. Unfortunately, it didn't pay well enough. So, instead, I became a restaurant manager. Great money, terrible hours, and painting was resigned to the status of "hobby.," One for which I had no time, until that fateful year four years ago when I became ill and could no longer work those hours.
As it turns out, I was given a gift. I was given the opportunity to return to my first love the paint brush, and here I intend to stay. It's not enough though, to just paint all day, although that is pretty awesome. My ego screams for people to see my work, and it quietly begs for those people to also love it.
I've tried various mediums, but my favorite remains acrylics. They are versatile, forgiving, and the colors are intense. I enjoy pushing the paint around until I'm happy with my subject.
My favorite subject is people. My brush caresses their faces, and I love painting their eyes. Occasionally I'll hurl a few invectives at my "creations" when they don't cooperate. I find it amazing how the most unfortunate looking person can become beautiful when transcribed in paint.
I define a painting as a story or a captured moment in time as filtered through the mind's eye of the artist. Painting is my way of telling a story and of being heard. .

patricia1413: I appreciate the reviews, they don't even have to be good reviews. Whatever I can take away from a critique is a good thing. What I don't appreciate, is when someone doesn't know what they're reviewing i.e. whether it's a photo or a painting.
Realism in painting has gone out of style. One can achieve perfect realism with a camera. I REALLY need to find another style to paint in...
