62, Navy veteran (SeaBees), long time photographer.
My father was a combat photog in the Marines 12 years, then ran a studio in Flint, Michigan for almost 36 more (Baldwin Chase Studios). From a young age I've always been interested in photography. My first 35mm was a Miranda Sensorex, and just recently found one at an auction in excellent condition. In the late 60's I progressed to Canon cameras and even today most my shots are with my trusty EOS 7D.
I do have a Kodak point and shoot for those quick, 'shoot now' times.
2 1/2 years ago I and a friend founded and began a backgammon league on Yahoo's game pages. So, if not out taking photo's I can usually be found there playing BG.

OK, a clarification. The shot I posted 4-20 of the marsh fire, titled 'night time fire's glow' DOES NOT include a sunset. It was pitch black out except for the fire's reflection on the low hanging clouds. This was about 9:30 PM far past dusk even. A couple of you thought this was partially inclusive of a sunset. No, all the color came from the fire itself. That's what, to me, made this shot so eerily stunning.

My fellow photog's and artists. I see many have viewed my photos and I want to thank those who have taken the time to comment on them. BUT, Might I say, even if to take a moment to say nice shot, say something. Stroke our ego's if nothing else LOL.I try, and I know fail at responding to others as well, so I need to remember to do so as well.I don't think any of us are getting rich here, nor think we should, so a nice comment is the best thing you can leave someone. OK, off my soapbox have a great one all.

Think I'll start looking over contests and consider entries that fit criteria. I wish they'd up their posts to at least 5 a day, would allow folks to post some pics while entering others in contests.Fanart? Listening??

Echo7 : I would suggest looking at all the various contests Mik. That way you can see if any of your images fit the criteria. May make deciding much easier.

I have been an avid freelance photog almost 40 years. My father ran a studio for 36 years and was a combat photographer in the Marines for 12 years prior to that. Until 2 years ago most my images were on 35mm, but switched to point and shoot first, then invested in my baby (Canon EOS 7D). Much of my photos are outdoor, landscape, fall, sunsets, and car shows. In fact will shoot most anything I can get around to.
Lately I've started dabbling in writing and, who knows, might post some of those as well.
