Wheelssky: I am an amature photographer with no formal training whatsoever. With that said I feel traditional photography is basically what we saw when we took the photo. The only computer enhancements I feel are in that scope are cropping and slight contrast or brightness adjustments and my photos will reflect that. But that's just me.

    Sandy Poore: Thanks...I agree with everything you said and I, too, have no formal training...only a couple of classes that really didn't answer my questions.

    Rivergirl51: I agree with what you said about traditional photography. I also usually only crop and sometimes adjust brightness. That is what I was taught to believe photography is all about.

    ramonafrances: Coming from an extremely traditional photography background, I am gradually changing my mind about traditionalism and what I believed was a purist approach after learning how Ansel Adams manipulated his photography while processing in the darkroom using his own fingers. There are subtle manipulations that are absolutely appropriate and extreme ones that are artistic choice or no choice at all. Instead of defending anyone approach, I defend all of them. That way, you do not limit yourself or fall into the trap of not learning more because you see yourself as a purist. I decided to learn graphics so I understand the level of difficulty to be a fair reviewer.

    Wheelssky: I was completely traditional but I too have been very impressed by the works of many of the artists works in mixed media from minor manipulations to the extreme. I greatly look foreward to learning new programs and am thankful to those who have been more than willing to give pointers and tips.
