I had a wine and cheese art party on June 29th and lots of people came! I sold three paintings including my favoutie which is posted here "The Other Side of the Sun". I will miss my dolphin, but I am so excited and so happy that someone else loves it and had to have it! Wahoo! Great art night!

Hello All:
So I will upload more in the Earth series which all are similar, deep, challenging, "what if" themes, like "Think Bigger" but for now...check out my cute squirrel painting!!

I think that the purpose of art is to make the viewer think or feel something they had not been thinking or feeling before they saw, watched or listened to the piece. Simple as that.
I personally want my art to make people question the things they "know" to be true. An individual, that is certain about true and unwavering facts, carries a preconceived judgement or opinion (not saying right or wrong, good or bad) about the world and it's possibilities. Certainty and possibility cannot go hand in hand.
I am simply using my art to force the viewer to ask themselves "what if" this isn't true. For example what if space is not the final frontier and is really as small and insignificant as a pebble on a beach covered in rocks?
Logical? No. Following what science suggests to us? Not at all. But does it, in its own interesting, bizarre way, suggest that we assume too much when we subconsciously assume space is the biggest be all end all? Yes.
If someone, Pre- Columbus had created art which depicted the world in the shape of a banana would they be scientifically correct? Even close? NO. But does it suggest... "what if the world ISN'T flat...?"
Artists use lies to tell the truth -V for Vendetta ;)

MKFlood : I agree with the v-vadetta statement..as humans we like to catagorize things into a neat lil box. I say the mover and shakers with the wild imaginations can make sceince fiction become fact...take star trek 1965 as example with the lil gagetries and compare them today. come on star trek is easiest one to grab out there for comparison, not many folks paid attention to Babylon 5..lol keep up dear im watching!

ducilla : I have the full set of Babylon 5! I cant believe someone else watched it!.. I also agree about the V-Vendetta theory but perhaps to a different conclusion. We are here to add "life" to the viewers imaginations for sure but we have to add heart and soul first. We lead the viewer into the scene through composition and then challenge their thoughts.. Provide a bit of viewing pleasure before the deeper and perhaps more meaningful challenges...

Hi, I'm Dana. I am new to painting. I am an actor who suddenly thought one day- 'Johnny Depp went out and tried to pursue a career as a singer and someone told him, why don't you try acting? You would be great at it!' So...what if I am missing my mark? I decided to explore different forms of art myself. HERE IT IS! Any help or advice would be appreciated. Check out my stuff! :)
