INFORMATION
I am a 70 year old retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer who spent my entire Naval career in Aviation in which part of my job was airborne photography. However photography has been a hobby with me ever since I was a child with my Brownie Box camera, the first Polaroid, 35 mm SLR's, the first digitals and Lord knows how many cameras total I have now...I prefer Nikon and Sony (in that order). I prefer taking pictures of animals, landscapes, nature and historical places and items. I keep somewhat busy with a side line business www.decalsandmore.blogspot.com and have an art blog at www.fineartamerica.com/profiles/william-bryan.html I live with my oil and acrylic artist Debbie in a small town in virginia. At this point I am a throat cancer survivor, but am having major problems with recovering rotator cuff surgery..Photography has been and will always be my major hobby...thank you and enjoy

billbryan: It is my feeling that there may NOT have been any pictures, painting, or modified art work on this site (which I DO like) that has ever SOLD? Does anyone know or have you 'sold' anything...?? I belong to another site www.fineartamerica.com and pictures are posted on there for sale and they show the ones that have sold (no price), but in 3 years I have never even had an inquiry...your thoughts on what I just said here?

Intrepid: I've been at this site for a year and I have never heard of anyone selling a photo here. I am not saying that no one has ever sold a picture here, but if they have, I suspect it is rarely done.

Sinbackkk: Any thoughts regrading that "site" Tom?

Badger: I think the main reason that people don't manage to sell work here is that they wildly over value themselves.

I but a lot of Garry Hodges prints, he is an established and highly respected artist, when released his smaller prints generally cost between $100 and $200 or so and are a safe buy as his work can resell after a few years for thousands of dollars. So why would anyone want pay the ludicrous prices asked by the many unknown (to the art world) members here?

As for the price photographers often ask here - do me a favour! Visit some of the stock photo sites, high res pictures sell for about thirty dollars or so and smaller file sizes for as little as ten dollars. It may not sound a lot for your efforts but a descent snap can sell many times in a year. What would you rather sell - no copies at say $100 or twenty at ten dollars?

Sinbackkk: Or mine just for the asking....

NinaDd: I have to agree about the pricing of works. I have seen things for sale here for $300.00 or $500.00 that just don't warrant the price! I know we all love our own work - but most people don't spend that kind of money on artwork - unless it is a WELL known artist (although I am sure there are SOME exceptions). I know a couple of people who have sold some stuff for moderate prices - but as far as I can see, most people don't sell on this site. I did buy an abstract print for $15.00 and LOVE it. By the time I get it framed the total cost will have been about 40.00, which is what I am willing to pay for something nice to hang on my wall. :)

billbryan: Well, good, you are the first acknowledged purchaser of note on this site..thanks..I don't ask ove 25 bucks for any of mine, so..
    March 30 at 6:48AM
NinaDd: Me either, I keep my prices low. I would rather sell something for 10 or 12 bucks than not sell at all. :)

4 I AM: Opps:hit the wrong button first. should wear my glasses. Walmart has shown everyone the way. That's why they were number one so long. Many for less, instead of few for much.
