The Hibiscus Tree flower was blown by a rain storm on a boardwalk through one of the last reminders of Yucatan's Mangrove swamp.
The Hibiscus Tree get to 30 ft high. It is a widely unknown true Hibiscus originated in the West Indies but found through the Caribbean. As the flowers grow older their color is changing from yellow to bronze and red then almost brown before it drops.
The Mangrove swamp is the puffer zone between coral riff and jungle and as such is an existential part of Yucatan's ecology. Today the Mangrove is threatened by deforestation do to the rapid urbanization and development of the tourisms industry.
The picture was taken with Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H9 Mostly automatic settings with manual adjustments of exposure and color.
