The picture is based on Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky's ballet Swan Lake.
The storyline of Swan Lake was fashioned after a German and several Russian folktales. The today's interpretations a quite different the ending for example ranged from very romantic to tragic.
So I thought I could take my own artistic license on the story. I have Odile [the black swan] dancing with the group wile the swans are unaware that not their princess but evil is flying [dancing] with them. Odile is the daughter of the evil wizard Rothbart, who had casted the spell on princess Odette to fly as swan. Odile want to marry prince Siegfried, Princess Odette's lover. Her father gives her the same swan body as Odette's to make Siegfried believe that Odile is Odette. There is just on thing wrong with it. Rothbart is unable to give his daughter the white of innocence. So Odile appears as a beautiful but black swan.
The picture is a collage made with parts of several digitally exchanged photos. A few parts are over painted.
I used Print Shop Pro and Digital Imagine Suite to create the picture.
