A Haiku poem within art/photo

Haiga~ Love Lives On

The Japanese call this "Haiga". Haiga is artwork or a photo that has a poem embedded in it. The poem is called a Haiku. A Haiku is three lines long and can have 11 or 17 syllables. It must be written as 3/5/3 or 5/7/5. This haiku is 5/7/5.

The image is mixed media. To make the Phoenix I use a photo of a turkey. The turkey was copied and pasted then silhouetted in black. I painted over the silhouette adding colors to create my version of a Phoenix. The wing was made from a feather shape I painted then copied and highlighted on the edge.

The flames were painted then smeared to have a fiery appearance. This was done seperately so I could place the flames over the converted photo.

This is my version of "Love Lives On"

Even though I used a turkey to create the Phoenix, I hope you don't think this mixed media is a TURKEY.

I hope you enjoy
