Mix Media Before and After Contest Entry
This mixed media contest requires the original image along with what you have created.
This Mixed-media came to be because I saw a version of Nessie (The Loch Ness Monster) made of succulents at a local nursery and took a picture of it.
I thought it would be fun to trace, copy and paste it in an ocean setting.
When I found the perfect setting for Nessie to swim in, I went to work to create this fantasy mixed media.
I decided to make the daytime shot of the ocean into a night shot because Nessie is so mysterious. I darkened the picture and in the sky created some Northern Lights by blending colors I thought would be appropriate. The lights were blurred and had some transparency added. Part of the Northern lights were placed behind the tree line. Stars were created with a star filter on another background, so I could chose the size I wanted and place them in by cloning . There is also a transparent copy for the reflection of lights in the ocean.
The moon was drawn and created by me and has a blurred copy behind it to create moon glow.
The shot of the ocean was placed in glowing edges to add a fantasy look to the scene. I traced the tree line and copied it so I could put a ship in and have it appear as if it was coming in from another inlet.
The ship with sails is actually a small model. It was traced and placed in png. , so I could cut out all the spaces between the ropes of the sails. When I completed all of the spaces I placed the ship in the ocean. A small piece of water had to be traced, copied and placed over the ship to hide the lower portions of it along with the rudder..
Nessie herself had three sections and was made from moss and succulent plants. She was on display in a Nursery. From my photo I traced ,copied her
And placed her in the ocean. Four copies were made from each section of her body. One copy was for her shadow beneath the water. The second copy
was for a magical light that surrounded her. Number three was transparent for her reflection and the fourth was the solid copy for her body.
As the contest requests the original ocean shot is included with my creation.

I hope you enjoy
