Barker Inlet, St Kilda is approximately 12km from Adelaide. 20 years ago the interpretative boardwalk was developed to show the ecological importance of the mangroves. The Finger Forest is made up of spongy finger like projections in the ground called pneumatophores. This is the breathing mechanism for the mangroves which are constantly waterlogged.
