I noticed this woman at the beach because she was sitting a bit outside the group of sun beds and umbrellas. She had brought her own little chair and the umbrella. I was so fascinated by the fact that she never seemed to move. I never saw her from the front, but by the wrinkles on her back I could see she was an old woman. The title was inspired by the book of Ernest Hemingway "The Old Man and the Sea", and so was the photo.
