Zebras have shiney coats that dissapate over 70% of incoming heat. Some scientists believe the stripes help the animals withstand intense solar radiation. The black and white stripes are a form of camoflage called disruptive coloration that breaks up the outline of the body. Althought the pattern is visable during the day, at dawn or evening when predators are most active, zebras look indistinct and may confuse predators by distorting true distance.

This Zebra was captured at Arizona's Out Of Africa Animal Wildlife park.
